Mayoral Appointment: Board Member recruitment for London’s new Child Obesity Taskforce
Help implement the Mayor’s vision of tackling Child Obesity in London
The Mayor of London is looking to complete the appointment of Board Members to London’s new Child Obesity Taskforce. You must share the Mayor’s passion and ambition to get to grips with the child obesity epidemic in London, tackling the inequality that exists between children living in different parts of the city.
The Mayor is clear that a set of complex factors have left London holding first place amongst our global peers as the city with biggest child obesity problem. The Mayor is also clear that tackling child obesity in London is inherently an issue of inequality and the new Child Obesity Taskforce will have a relentless focus on closing the gap in London.
London is full of opportunities for children and the Mayor wants every one of our youngsters to get on in life by making the most of them. Getting to grips with child obesity in London will need a radical approach and strong leadership that will change the status quo and challenge the vested interests that have, for far too long, held back meaningful progress.
Others share this vision too – that’s why London’s new Child Obesity Taskforce is being set-up in partnership with Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity, Public Health England and London’s Association of Directors of Public Health.
The Mayor is looking for Londoners who are leaders, who understand the issues and the complexity, who are change makers, visionary thinkers, who can take a fresh look at the problem. Above all the Mayor is looking for Londoners who are prepared to get stuck in and fundamentally shift the cultural, social and economic forces in our homes, streets and schools and kickstart the step-change we need to see in this great city.
London’s new Child Obesity Taskforce will launch later this year. Applications are welcome from candidates with experience in the following areas:
- The food industry- including retail, and distribution
- Digital solutions
- Early years, and maternal health (parenting and families)
- Behavioural insights
- Inequalities / social determinate of health
- Equality and inclusion
