The Mayor’s Cultural Leadership Board – Vice and Ambassadors (Up to 5)

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in supporting the policies that underpin London’s culture, creative industries and night time economy by becoming a member on the Mayor’s Cultural Leadership Board.

 

 Up to five new members will be appointed by the Mayor and the Chair, Moira Sinclair OBE, will appoint a Vice Chair from the new or existing members.

 

As a member, known as Ambassadors, you will work alongside the Chair, to help steer the delivery of the Mayor’s policies and keep him and his Deputy Mayor for Culture and the Creative Industries, Justine Simons OBE, abreast of emerging and ongoing issues facing the creative industries and culture sector and the night time economy. We are particularly looking for people with experience of delivering further education (FE) and widening participation for creative industries workforce, creative practitioners to provide non-institutional insights on issues faced by the freelance creative workforce, and those with experience of delivering grass roots and community-based arts and culture especially to younger people.

 

For the vice chair, you will need to have experience in chairing boards or advisory groups and managing a group of high-level experts working in a voluntary capacity, have excellent communication skills and be a confident public speaker with experience of operating effectively within a sensitive and political environment.

 

All candidates will need to demonstrate a strong personal commitment to promoting London’s culture, creative industries and night time offer.

 

Prior to the pandemic, the creative economy was worth £58 billion a year, accounting for one in six jobs and attracting four out of every five visitors to the capital. You will advocate for the value of culture and the night time economy which are playing a major role in London’s economic and social recovery.
